Flossy's Corner of Insanity

About Me...

Picture
Hmmm...

What can I possibly say?  I'm a Brit and insane and have been a fan of Stargate ever since I first saw the original film (oh so many years ago).  Sigh.  Ah, those were the days: teenage crushes on James Spader, shrieking whenever I saw a Goa'uld (creepy and icky, but what a wicked enemy) and literally EVERY TIME Kurt Russell appeared on screen (oh, how I hate that man), loving and really wanting one of the weird alien cow-horses...

Then along came SG-1 and that was it - hooked, line and sinker.  Funnily enough, I wasn't too taken with the idea behind SGA at first ("Oh noes, not a spin off!" she cried in dismay.  "Not more characters to worry about and swoon over!") but thankfully, as soon as I watched 'Rising' I saw the light and was converted to the Dark Side.  It's much more fun over here anyway, and we have cookies too.  (The fact that Joe Flanigan, Paul McGillion and David Hewlett are all ridiculously yummy may have helped.  Not that I'm shallow or anything... O.o)

I have a few other fandoms, most of which are Sci-Fi - Torchwood, Dr Who, Red Dwarf, The X-Files (before Sexy Fox left to be replaced by Creepy Terminator Man, anyway), Firefly, Buffy and Angel to name but a few.  Non Sci-Fi includes: CSI (yep, that's right, ALL OF THEM.  So many yummy guys!  Woot!  However, I've not forgiven Vegas for killing off Warwick then replacing Grissom.  Lawrence Fishburne's cool, but everytime he's on screen I get a strange and somewhat impulsive desire to scream MORPHEUS!!!), NCIS, Numb3rs, Starsky and Hutch, Spaced, Black Books and Bones.

However, the wonderful world of SGA is the only one I've ever written fan fic for.  I think I must have been inspired...

According to my many and varied sources (especially Moony, my beta reader), if Rodney McKay was British and female, he'd be me.  Only I'm slightly better with people and not allergic to citrus.  (Although, freakily enough, I'm hypoglycaemic...)  I don't want to kill small children or sleep with blonde Air Force Colonels/botanists/doctors either, but 'tis semantics.  Never mind.  I've been compared to worse things.  As I said before, I am in fact an evil genius and am currently planning to take over the world using mothig more than a lemon, two pints of Newcastle Brown Ale, the combined destructive forces of my blue badgers and a cuddly toy.  He's a lizard called Benji, if anyone's interested.  (Yes, the crack is good, kids.  Go on, try it.  You'll LOVE it...)

Oh, and have I mentioned that I'm INSANE?

When I'm not writing utter rubbish masquerading under the delusion of actually being fanfic, I work for an international telecoms company, but that doesn't make me a bad person.  I'm also a musician (which explains why I'm drunk so much of the time) but decided against the impoverished artist lifestyle.  For a start, I'd never be able to afford the beer and I'm far too young to die of Syphillis.  I know it's the angsty, romantic way to go, but I'm a rebel.  (And a modernist.  And insane.  Oh wait, I already said that...)

(I'm also an ex government employee.  I did try to find those pesky aliens, Sexy Fox, but the sneaky little critters eluded me...)

So, there you have it.  I hope you enjoyed what you read - I certainly had a wicked time writing it.  Oh, and one last thing - if anyone wants me to write a specific story or send me a challenge, go for it.  The plot bunnies can be unreliable at the best of times and any/all inspiration is welcomed with big hugs, virtual cookies (they're chocolate fudge) and warm fuzzies.
